Crèche

In the Church complex, crèche facilities with supervision are available with at the 9.30am service every Sunday morning.  Young children (school age and under) are provided with toys and activities to enable parents to concentrate on worship, while providing meaningful activities for the younger children.

    

Emmaus

Encouraging and empowering young people to minister to each other.  After attending the Emmaus Weekend, members are encouraged to join an Emmaus cell group for training and encouragement.  The young people take time out and share something of their journey with the members of the group. This enables the group to support each member and learn about their personal journey with each other.  This group meets for dinner, discussion and worship to encourage and equip members for the ministry they have with each other, their families, friends and their communities.

Kidsplus+ aka GFS - An Anglican Ministry

Focusing on preparing children for their ministries and provide them with support, encouragement and training.

GFS - An Anglican Ministry - is one of the oldest ministries within our parish. Our GFS branch has been active since 1993.  GFS provides training and preparation for children, teaching them about God's word, games, art, crafts, dance and more.  GFS provides church parades, weekend camps and conferences to further develop the children's faith and encourages them use their gifts and talents to God's glory.

In 2006, GFS underwent a name-change to reflect the inclusive nature of its leadership and membership. The group is now known as "Kidsplus" and includes both boys and girls in their program of activities.

For all children over 5 years of age.

Junior Church

An education program for the older children.  Aimed for those children who feel a little too old for Sunday School, this program is aimed to each children about God's love and the work of Jesus Christ in a format that allows for free expression and questions.  Programs incorporate Cross Examined (Christianity Explained for Children), Whole People of God, Youth Alpha, and an explanation of the Holy Communion Service.  Children are encouraged to ask questions, discuss issues and develop a faith of their own.

Yahweh Youth

This program is issue-based and has been developed for teenagers. The curriculum centres around issues and concerns of young people in our Parish. The group meets each Sunday (during school terms) and works with experienced mentors who guide the members of the group in finding answers to life's challenges.

School Chaplaincy in local Schools

An education program for children at State Schools.  Members of the Parish support local School Chaplains in their work among the school communities in our area.

Les Gomes (Runcorn High), Andy Bishop (Calamvale College) and Andy Pickard (Sunnybank High) are employed by Scripture Union (Queensland) to undertake the work of School Chaplains under the support of local churches including Algester Anglican Church..

Sunday School

An education program for children.  Open to all children, this program is held in the hall during the Sunday service.  Children are taught about God's love and the work of Jesus Christ in a format designed for them.  Programs incorporate craft activities, singing, Bible stories, and the simple message of God's love.  Lessons commence at 9.30am with the children joining the service in the Church at the later part of the service.  Material used in Sunday School is based upon the Bible readings for the day using a program titled "The Whole People of God".

Young Adults

Focusing on meeting the needs of young adults in our community.  Young Adults allows the young people of our community to meet together and discuss issues relevant to themselves and their faith journey.  Young people meet together in a social environment and enjoy a meal together as they renew themselves for the tasks ahead of them.  There is no formal education aspect to the program as faith and issue sharing provides an effective method for faith growth and ministry.

Youth Alpha

A special version of the Alpha program centred upon the needs and interests of young people. This program will be run in the Parish to coincide with the Brisbane "Alpha Invitation 2006" being conducted in over 100 churches during Term 3 of 2006.

Venue: The Church - 362 Algester Road, Algester (corner of Ormskirk Street).
